About Reggie Copeland

Reggie Copeland is an experienced mediator and litigator whose work focuses primarily on product liability, nursing home-related claims, personal injury, insurance disputes, bad faith, and commercial litigation.

He has tried more than 100 jury trials in Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, and Illinois. Among his results is a product liability verdict in excess of $22 million — a month-long trial over design flaws in a slant blade meat saw used in butcher shops, tried in an Illinois county that had never returned a punitive damage award in a personal injury case.

Reggie began mediating actively in 2007 and has handled several hundred mediations a year from that point to the present, across the full range of disputes listed under Areas of Experience.

He graduated from Spring Hill College in 1975 and received his law degree from Cumberland School of Law in 1978. He joined The Gardner Firm as a partner in May 2011.

Reggie is AV® rated by Martindale-Hubbell and was selected for membership in The Best Lawyers in America® in 2010 for Product Liability Litigation and in 2012 and 2013 for Plaintiffs' General Litigation.

He is a member of the American, Alabama, and Mobile County Bar Associations and a founding member of the South Alabama Trial Lawyers Association. He served two terms as Vice Chair and one term as Chair of the Dispute Resolution Section of the Alabama State Bar, and is a member of the American Bar Association Dispute Resolution Section, where he was a panelist at the Section's 2013 Mediation Skills Symposium in Nashville.
